Drilling undertaken by Spartan Resources has hit visible gold that runs over 1km deep at its Never Never deposit in Western Australia.
The Never Never deposit is part of Spartan’s flagship Dalgaranga gold project located 475km north-east of Perth and about 65km north-west of Mount Magnet.
The gold explorer said 20-plus metres of “typical Never Never-style” mineralisation was intersected from a 1034m down-hole (DGDH064), which included visible gold at 1046m and 1050m.
Other recent drilling results include:
- 12.54m at 14.32 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 570.91m, including 2.52m at 67.49g/t (drill hole DGRC1430-DT)
- 13.75m at 10.08g/t gold from 667m, including 3m at 38.10g/t (drill hole DGRC1429-DT)
- 12.80m at 8.13g/t gold from 603m, including 1m at 96.47g/t (drill hole DGDH055).
“This latest intercept in drillhole DGDH064 is another fantastic development in our ongoing systematic exploration of the Never Never mineral system,” Spartan Resources managing director and chief executive officer Simon Lawson said.
“While it’s safe to say this is the deepest drill-hole we will be drilling from surface for the time being, we’re absolutely delighted to see a plus-20-metre down-hole intercept of typical Never Never-style mineralisation with visible gold logged in two areas.
“The intercept – which has all the characteristic attributes of high-grade Never Never mineralisation with heavy silica flooding, sericite/biotite alteration and visible gold – is located approximately 245m down plunge of drill-hole DGDH052, which returned a top three all-time Never Never intercept of 11.55m at 36.77g/t gold.
“We are confident this latest intercept takes the consistent down-plunge extent of Never Never mineralisation beyond 1000m vertical depth, more than 1250m down-plunge and, most importantly, extends the mineralisation to more than 400m below the existing 952,000oz high-grade mineral resource. We eagerly await the assay results from this deepest intercept.”
Lawson said Craig Jones joining Spartan as chief operating officer will help the company work towards building a sustainable high-grade mine plan.
“Together, Craig, I and the Spartan team will continue to drive and drill hard to create a number of exciting development pathways to bring high-grade ounces to the mill and lay the foundations for a long-life, high margin gold business,” he said.
