A week ago, VinFast debuted its VF 3 mini-SUV and announced a free charging initiative at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025.
The VF 3 is available for order at a listed price of IDR 227,650,000 ($14,000) for the battery purchase option. An incentive program offers a cash reduction of IDR 7,850,000 ($480) for the first 1,000 vehicles. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in April 2025.
VinFast, in partnership with V-GREEN, will provide free charging at V-GREEN-operated VinFast charging stations across Indonesia. This offer is valid for VF 3 owners until March 1, 2028, and for VF e34 and VF 5 owners until December 31, 2027. V-GREEN plans to expand its charging infrastructure to 30,000 VinFast charging portals nationwide by the end of 2025.
Author’s note: In an earlier article I mentioned that V-GREEN was owned by Vinfast. It is not. V-GREEN is one of the many other businesses VinFast CEO and VinGroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong is involved in.
The VF 3 is designed for urban commuting, with dimensions of 3,190 x 1,679 x 1,652 mm. It features 16-inch alloy wheels and 175 mm of ground clearance. Four standard colors are available: Jet Black (exclusive to Indonesia), Infinity Blanc, Crimson Red, and Zenith Grey. Four two-tone premium options with a white roof are also offered: Summer Yellow, Urban Mint, Sky Blue, and Rose Pink.
The vehicle has a claimed range of 215 km on a single charge and can fast charge from 10% to 70% in 36 minutes. It achieves 0-50 km/h in 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 100 km/h. The VF 3 includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
VinFast provides a vehicle warranty of up to 7 years or 160,000 km (whichever comes first) and an 8-year unlimited mileage warranty for the battery. Test drives of the VF 3 were available at IIMS 2025 starting February 15.
VinFast has established an EV assembly plant in Indonesia, launched the VF e34 and VF 5 models, and expanded its sales and service network within the past year. The company is involved in Indonesia’s green transition through its sales policies and partnerships with companies like Xanh SM and V-GREEN.
The Philippines was the first market outside of Vietnam that received the VF 3 less than a year after its release in its home market. So far, sales aren’t as expected despite being the most affordable of the mini-EVs.
Meanwhile, In India

Exactly a month ago, VinFast unveiled its first electric vehicles for the Indian market at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. In a press statement, the Vietnamese automaker showcased the VF 6 (B-segment SUV) and VF 7 (C-segment SUV), both all-electric models. Notably, India is the first market where VinFast has developed right-hand drive versions of these vehicles.
VinFast plans to begin sales of the VF 6 and VF 7 in the first half of 2025. The company is establishing a dealer network across major Indian cities, utilizing an omni-channel sales approach.
The VF 6’s design is inspired by the “The Duality In Nature” philosophy, aiming for a balance of fun and sophistication, technology and human-centric design. The VF 7, on the other hand, embodies the “Asymmetric Aerospace” philosophy, featuring a bolder exterior and a driver-focused interior with integrated technology.
In addition to the VF 6 and VF 7, VinFast also displayed its other EV models at the expo, including the VF 3, VF e34, VF 8, and VF 9 SUVs; the Evo200, Klara, Feliz Vento, and Theon electric scooters; the DrgnFly electric bike; and the VF Wild pickup truck concept.
VinFast’s presence at the expo follows its ground-breaking last February 25, 2024 of an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The facility aims to bolster VinFast’s global production capacity and support the adoption of electric vehicles in India and other markets.
VinFast’s India is also partnering with the state government to develop charging infrastructure. India’s growing EV market, especially across vehicle segments, is key to VinFast’s global growth strategy. The plant’s location near Thoothukudi Port facilitates EV exports. India’s strong automotive component sector will support high vehicle localization, and VinFast may source Indian EV parts for its global manufacturing, according to sources inside VinFast headquarters in Vietnam.
