When it comes to finding the perfect e-bike, there are a number of variables that come into play. For some people, it might be the e-bike with the longest range per charge. For others, it’s all about carrying capacity. And for still others, it’s more about the ease with which it can be transported and stored.

One really great aspect of the booming e-bike market is the fact that there are e-bikes available in all shapes and sizes, and in all price points, so most people can be sure of finding an e-bike that fits their own personal mobility needs, whether that entails just carrying a single person to work or play, or hauling a week’s worth of groceries home, or getting that last mile to or from public transport.

Personally, I like full-sized cargo e-bikes and off-road capable bikes, and I tend to steer clear of folding bikes, because I live in the country and can ride right out of my barn without having to carry a heavy e-bike up or down stairs or load it into a vehicle or onto a bike rack. But I know a number of people who need a completely different kind of e-bike, such as a foldable model that can be stashed in a closet, behind a door, or in a trunk, and that can be out of the way in the home or office. If that’s you, then you might want to take a closer look at the GOTRAX F5 e-bike, because right now, it’s available for $999, a full $500 off its regular retail price.

We haven’t yet ridden or reviewed this model from GOTRAX at CleanTechnica, but Jo Borrás recently reviewed the company’s Shift S2 folding micro bike and F2 folding e-bike, so if the F5 is anything like its cousins, then this sub-$1000 electric bike could be just the ticket.

The GOTRAX F5 is powered by a 500W rear hub motor, which gets its electricity from a 48V 13.6aH lithium-ion battery (652.8Wh), and the bike is capable of getting up to 60 miles of range per charge. With a 20 mph top speed, a twist throttle and 5 levels of pedal assist, front suspension, 20″ x 4″ fat tires, and a carrying capacity of 265 pounds, this foldable bike could be a great option for everything from running errands to commuting to the work or school.
