Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions has introduced its new Sandvik DD312i, joining the company’s i-series range of development drills.
The new compact and automated single-boom jumbo, which capitalises on 20 years of drilling legacy from Axera D05 to Sandvik DD311, can be used for face drilling, cross cutting and bolting.
It can also complete development and production drilling in room and pillar, cut and fill, stoping or caving mining applications.
The Sandvik DD312i is suitable for medium-to-large sized underground drifts and can fit into narrow confines due to its compact carrier and small cornering profile. It features the modern, ergonomic and spacious cabin now standard across the 400i and 300i series drills.
The new intelligent control system with torque optimised drilling is designed for mines seeking more tonnes with maximum profitability.
Product manager for Sandvik’s 300-range of single-boom development drills and bolters, Jean François Haen, said the product displayed its advantages during recent field testing at the La Cantera mine in Mexico.
“Sandvik DD312i demonstrated up to 28 per cent increased productivity, better service life for tools and lower bits and consumables consumption,” he said.
“La Cantera’s maintenance manager highlighted the strong savings on feed buffers, water hoses and rock tools during the testing period, and the operators were impressed by the easy transition to Sandvik i-series drills.”
Miners can enjoy up to 50 per cent higher drilling accuracy, up to 26 per cent more drilling coverage and up to 20 per cent more productivity when the DD312i is combined with Sandvik’s scalable automation packages for drills.
Sandvik is simultaneously launching the Sandvik DD312i Digital Driller training simulator for fast and easy operator training.
The DD312i is also compatible with Sandvik’s underground drilling digital offering including Sandvik DrillConnect and iSURE 9.0.
