Vestas has received a 136 MW order to power an undisclosed wind project owned in Canada. The order consists of 22 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines.
The order includes supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to ensure optimised performance of the asset. Vestas’ EnVentus turbines offer a wide range of standard hub heights and modes of operation that can be combined with an extensive list of technology options to create customised solutions to suit the needs of each unique project. Turbine delivery begins in the third quarter of 2024 with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. Read More
Chris and Julie Ramsey, have crossed the equator in their world-first expedition driving an EV from the 1823 Magnetic North Pole to the South Pole in Antarctica.
With their expedition-ready Nissan Ariya, the couple has so far travelled more than 20,000 km, traversing the challenging Arctic Sea ice, melting Canadian ice roads, and exploring North and Central America before reaching the equator line in Quito, Ecuador.
Pole to Pole was devised as the ultimate test for an electric car, with the hope of accelerating the adoption of EVs as part of the solution to tackle the climate crisis, whilst also shining a light on the positive action of people, communities and projects along the route.
Reflecting on their Northern Hemisphere adventures, Julie commented: “It’s been an incredible experience so far. Our Expedition Ariya captures the interest of so many people on our route and we’ve been privileged to be hosted and helped by the kindest and most fascinating people, who all embrace the positivity and hope that Pole to Pole represents.” Read More

Siemens Energy is supplying 12 electrolyzers with a total capacity of 200 megawatts to Normandy, France. Air Liquide, a world leader in gases, technologies and services for Industry and Health, will operate them in its Normand’Hy project. Starting in 2026, Air Liquide’s plant in the Port-Jérôme industrial zone will produce 28,000 tons of renewable hydrogen annually for industry and the mobility sector. With this amount, a hydrogen-fueled road truck could make it 10,000 times around the world.
“The sustainable decarbonization of industry is unthinkable without green hydrogen. That is why projects like this are so important. But they can only be a starting point for a sustainable transformation of the industrial landscape. Other large-scale projects must follow quickly. For the development of a European hydrogen economy to succeed, we need reliable support from policymakers and simplified procedures for funding and approving such projects”, says Anne-Laure de Chammard, member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy. By using electrolyzers from Siemens Energy, Air Liquide will contribute to the decarbonization of the Normandy industrial basin and mobility by offering low carbon hydrogen. As a result, up to 250,000 tons of CO2 can be saved each year. Ordinarily, 25 million trees would be needed to bind this amount of carbon dioxide. Read More
The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC), convened separate special board meetings with Shell Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Shell) and bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT). Both meetings took place at the Hilton Trinidad and Tobago Conference Centre on September 22nd 2023, to discuss the path forward for energy. They were joined by The Hon. Stuart Young, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries. Among the points that the team discussed were long term gas supply, strategies for decarbonisation of the energy and industrial sectors, and mechanisms to help transition the energy value chain to a low- carbon future. These separate meetings were a continuation of discussions initiated in February 2023, when both parties met at NGC’s Head Office in Point Lisas, for a similar purpose. Read More
The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) and Shell Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Shell) have signed an amended Domestic Gas Sales Contract (DGSC) to incorporate a share of the natural gas volumes from the Shell-operated Manatee field once the project is sanctioned. The signing took place on September 22nd at Hilton Trinidad and Tobago Conference Centre, and was attended by The Honourable Stuart Young, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, along with the principals of both signatory companies. The amended DGSC will entitle NGC to purchase gas produced from one of the country’s largest offshore fields, to supply to the downstream sector across the medium term. In 2019, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela executed an agreement to allow each country to independently develop its share of hydrocarbon resources from the Loran-Manatee Gas field, which straddles the maritime border between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. Shell and NGC are both working assiduously to monetise this reserve – Shell as the operator responsible for development and production, and NGC as the entity that will facilitate receipt and processing of the gas via its Beachfield facility.
