Alcoa has announced Caroline Rossignol as the new president of its foundation.
The Alcoa Foundation has a mission to invest in communities globally where Alcoa has a presence. It contributes to programs that protect and preserve the environment while also promoting fair access to education and skills-building opportunities.
As president of the Alcoa Foundation, Rossignol will oversee investment opportunities where the company has a presence, as well as partnering with communities to address local needs in a sustainable manner. She will also serve as Chair of the Alcoa Foundation board of directors.
Rossignol has more than 15 years of experience in the mining sector. She most recently served as Lundin Mining director of sustainability and social performance from 2016–2019.
“I am honoured to join the Alcoa Foundation and (I) look forward to collaborating with our colleagues and host communities around the world to build on the foundation’s legacy and lead the evolution of our strategy, programs, and impacts,” Rossignol said.
On top of her work in the mining sector, Rossignol has more than ten years experience working with wildlife and habitat conservation non-government organisations (NGOs).
Rossignol has joined Alcoa from IDEXX, a US based animal health diagnostics and medical devices company. At IDEXX, she served as director of global corporate responsibility and led worldwide philanthropic programs including establishing and leading the IDEXX Foundation.
Alcoa said the role of its foundation’s president is now a full-time position. It previously fell under the responsibility of Alcoa vice president of sustainability Rosa Garcia Pineiro.
“Pineiro will continue to serve in her other global duties with Alcoa Corporation,” the company said.
Alcoa announced in August that it’s on track to cut spills and leaks by up to 60 per cent by the end of the year.
