Mineral Resources (MinRes) and Esperance Care Services (ECS) have entered into a three-year partnership to carry out crisis care services in Western Australia.
ECS has been supporting communities in and around the Esperance region of WA for nearly 30 years. Alongside its care services, the non-profit organisation runs a thrift shop and boutique where quality second-hand goods such as clothing and accessories, furniture, household items, electrical goods and books are sold.
Under the new partnership, MinRes will give ECS $90,000 over the next three years to support ECS in providing support services such as emergency relief, counselling and advocacy, education and training, and respite programs to those in need.
“Ongoing operational funding is crucial to our organisation’s viability and often the hardest to secure,” ECS chief executive officer Chris Meyer said. “We are very grateful to MinRes for their generous support.”
MinRes stakeholder engagement manager Daniel Barker said the major miner is proud to support ECS.
“The breadth of support ECS provides and its dedication to ensuring these services remain available is commendable,” Barker said.
To further support the Esperance region, MinRes recently donated $25,000 to Nulsen Primary School so a parent and family centre could be furnished.
“Funds will support with the purchase of equipment and resources enabling our partnered services to be accessible and flexible for private and group-based sessions,” Nulsen Primary School principal Krystal Wiggin said.
Barker said supporting organisations that facilitate positive communities is a core social investment pillar for MinRes.
“We’re proud to support Nulsen in their vision to provide vital support to families within the Esperance area,” Barker said.
