Last chance for Prospect Awards nominations

The mining industry’s most prestigious awards program has a new home at the WA Mining Conference and Exhibition (WA Mining) – and nominations for 2024 are almost closed.

The esteemed Australian Mining Prospect Awards have been celebrating and rewarding innovation across the country’s resources sector for more than a decade. For the first time in the program’s history, the awards are heading west and will be held on the first night of 2024 WA Mining.

The Prospect Awards are the only national awards program to examine the mining industry and reward those who are excelling and going above and beyond.

This year’s event will recognise industry excellence in 11 categories, sponsored by some of the biggest names in the Australian sector:

  • Indigenous and Community Engagement – sponsored by Sandvik
  • Excellence in IIoT Application – sponsored by ifm
  • Excellence in Environmental Management & Sustainability – sponsored by Sefar Filter Specialists
  • Excellence in Mine Safety, OH&S – sponsored by Geographe
  • Project Lead of the Year – sponsored by Regal Rexnord
  • Innovative Mining Solution – sponsored by Austmine
  • Outstanding Mine Performance – sponsored by SEW-EURODRIVE
  • Mine Project Success of the Year
  • Safety Advocate of the Year
  • Discovery of the Year
  • Australian Mine of the Year – sponsored by Bonfiglioli

WA Mining show director Siobhan Rocks is excited at the 2024 Prospect Awards being held in Western Australia for the first time.

“Partnering with sponsors and a world-class judging panel, these prestigious awards recognise leadership across the industry,” Rocks said. “It is a night celebrating excellence and ingenuity that cannot be missed.”

Industry association Austmine has been involved with the Prospect Awards since 2017 and is returning as the sponsor for the Innovative Mining Solution award at this year’s event.

“Our mission is to advocate and champion the advancement of mining technology and innovation, and this award in particular aligns with our overall mission,” Austmine director marketing, membership and events Vanessa Haberland said.

“Creating a great innovation is fantastic, but if no one hears about it, then you go unnoticed. Stopping, pausing, recognising and rewarding people accordingly is an important thing, and we love being part of the Prospect Awards.”

With less than a week to go before nominations close, Haberland encourages those in the industry to step forward and advocate for individuals who deserve recognition.

“We’re not just individuals, we’re a community, and supporting each other is key,” she said. “Even if your award or innovation isn’t selected, you’re still part of the journey, you’re part of the conversation, you’re part of the dialogue.”

Nominations close on 23 August, with tickets to the gala going on sale on 1 September.

The Prospect Awards will be held on 9 October, from 7.00pm till late at Fraser’s Restaurant, Perth.
