CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Güntner, a global leader in refrigeration and heat exchange technology, today announced its commitment to six sustainability pledges to achieve by 2030. In support of its strategic sustainability mission, these new pledges focus and accelerate efforts to significantly reduce the impact Güntner has on the environment. The pledges also demonstrate the company’s leadership to the wider industry, inspiring action globally that will improve prospects for the planet and for future generations.
Güntner’s six sustainability pledges include:
- Launch the industry’s first truly circular coil
- Convert Güntner’s entire product range to the use of eco-friendly substances
- Reduce carbon intensity by 40% across manufacturing facilities
- Reduce energy intensity by 10% across manufacturing facilities
- Reduce water intensity by 30% across manufacturing facilities
- Fully transition to utilizing sustainable packaging
With a proven track record of developing products that set the industry standard, decades of German engineering expertise, as well as dedicated innovation teams tasked with tackling today’s challenges, Güntner is in a strong position to successfully reach its self-imposed sustainability targets.
“This is an exciting and essential next step in our organization’s global sustainability journey,” said Miguel Garrido, Güntner’s Executive President – USA. “Güntner US is already actively working with associations, such as the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration, to refine regulatory frameworks to help transition to cleaner technologies. While we’re proud of the initial steps we’ve taken, we recognize the responsibility we have as a global leader to improve sustainability in our industry as a whole, preserving the wonder of our planet for the next generation.”
The drive to deliver on each of the pledges is being managed by Güntner representatives from different markets. Fabian Ganser, Güntner’s sustainability specialist, is one of them. He recognizes that success depends on collaborating with others. “Innovation is so much more than machinery, and by partnering with our regional experts all over the globe, it allows for us to share our innovation and commitment to sustainability, while also drawing on a wider scope of expertise and expanding our reach,” said Ganser.
The ambitious journey Güntner is embarking on involves not only large-scale initiatives, such as the pledges, but also the involvement of each employee, encouraging them to contribute individually. The company’s sustainability manifesto encapsulates this mission, stating, “Our commitment is built on the actions we take and the decisions we make each and every day. It lives in how we partner better with others, how we nurture tomorrow’s talent, how we develop future solutions and how we serve our communities.”
The six sustainability pledges have been brought to life in a creative campaign that stretches across digital and traditional media. The campaign, developed by London-based agency Keel, ‘sets in stone’ each pledge, communicating them as very real targets to achieve. The combination of company-wide and individual participation is summed up in the campaign claim, ‘Six pledges. One future. Our responsibility.’
