Support from the Queensland Government is propelling the growth of engineering and solutions company Global Road Technology (GRT) across the world as the business expands its domestic and international footprint.
At the beginning of 2023, Queensland headquartered GRT received $100,000 in the round nine Ignite Ideas Funding through the Advance Queensland innovation initiative designed to support the state’s businesses undertaking commercialisation projects that will benefit the economy now and into the future.
This support from the Queensland Government is proving to have provided a vital push to grow brand awareness for the company’s latest offering of its Australian-made SMART Dosing Unit, by helping to power its marketing and sales drive for an automated dosing system designed to enhance the effectiveness of dust suppression and water management systems on mine sites.
GRT chief executive officer Troy Adams believes that the support from the Queensland Government has been a vital component for the company’s growth over 2023 as the funding has allowed the company to invest in personnel and marketing initiatives.
It has also allowed GRT to develop contacts across the state’s business community.
“As 2023 draws to a close I believe that it is important to acknowledge the support provided by the Queensland Government through the Ignite Ideas Funding through the Advance Queensland program to help innovative businesses like GRT to grow our market share domestically and internationally,” Adams said.
“As miners look at ways to reduce their carbon footprint, conserve water and reduce freshwater waste, our SMART Dosing Unit technology is proving very appealing to mining companies, as it allows them to lessen their environmental impact while at the same time protecting their employees from the dangers of particulate pollution generated from mining activities.
“Receiving the Queensland Government has helped us to grow our employee footprint within the state and allowed us to build our sales and marketing team to support our growth plans for the business.”
Designed and assembled by GRT’s engineers adhering to the company’s ISO 9001 certified quality management system, these Australian-manufactured SMART Dosing Units consist of a central control and satellite communication module utilising Internet of Things (IoT) technology to provide the ability to remotely control and automate product use.
GRT is also investing significantly in research and design, digital transformation and innovation to make it a leader in air pollution reduction at a time when the mining industry is looking at ways it can address its environmental impact and provide greater protection for workers.
GRT’s innovative products and solutions are also utilised in the civil, agricultural, resources, land development, and environmental management sectors.
For Adams, this investment into innovation has yielded significant results in 2023 as the business achieved significant growth and also developed a distribution partnership with TotalEnergies Marketing Australia.
“The partnership has given the opportunities to work with our existing and new clients, assisting with the management of their natural resources, reducing costs in their business through asset reductions or reallocations and creating a safer working environment, through the reduction of dust particles in the atmosphere,” TotalEnergies national mining manager Andrew Druwitt said.
Adams said 2023 had been a significant year for GRT.
“Just after the Ignite Ideas Funding was announced we signed off on a significant distribution partnership with TotalEnergies Marketing Australia which is allowing us to move our products at scale across the country and aligning us with one of the leading mining services brands nationally,” he said.
“As a business we are looking forward to 2024 as we believe that the momentum we have gained will continue well into next year and beyond due to our growth nationally and internationally – as we seek to become the next leading local company flying the flag for Queensland businesses.”
