To obtain certification the technicians must have a minimum of 525 hours of qualified work experience along with a minimum of 40 hours of vocational training. They must then pass a written and practical examination from CGSB as well as a SNT-TC-1A specific to Buffalo Inspection Services. To ensure competency, technicians must renew their certifications every five years.

Inspections are of the Highest Industry Standards

Through industry research and experience, Buffalo prioritizes investment in quality tools to ensure our technicians are getting the best results possible in a timely manner. Across the spectrum of inspection services provided by Buffalo, their technicians are outfitted with the right equipment to ensure the inspections are carried out to the highest industry standards. To ensure equipment is functioning to the highest of standards, their equipment is sent to qualified third-party suppliers every six months for calibrations and repairs.

When inspecting Downhole tools, also known as Bottomhole Assemblies (BHA), the tools are inspected to one of three standards. TH Hill DS-1, API RPG7G-2, or Customer Specifications. These standards set out the procedures to be followed when conducting magnetic particle and dye penetrant inspection to detect crack-type indications. A visual inspection is also conducted to check for washing, pitting, and eccentric wear on the bodies and threads of the tools. The methodology of the inspection procedures is taking specific measurements in certain locations on each tool. These measurements are then double-checked against the allowable minimum requirements and can be reassessed to allow for continuous monitoring of the assets.

The Downhole Tool Division deploys the top safety equipment to ensure the protection of their employees and the public. Across all facets of personal protective equipment, equipment safeguards, and sanitary materials, Buffalo is committed to ensuring the safety of their workers, the public, and the environment. When preparing for inspections, they often need to clean off production oil and tar residue from the parts. To achieve this, they source industry leading eco-friendly cleaning products to ensure the parts are ready for inspection without compromising commitment to the environment.
