London, 2 October, 2023, (Oilandgaspress): – Almost 6000 data sets from relinquished areas will now be available to the public. This is in addition to 30,000 data sets released in the past year.

The extensive effort to release data means that companies will have access to much more data, which in turn will contribute to increased value creation on the Norwegian shelf.

These 6000 new data sets (well data) are from areas on the Norwegian shelf that have been relinquished. In order to ensure circulation of acreage and more efficient exploration, it is important that these data sets are quickly made available to other companies that could identify new opportunities.

The expression “interpreted data” has been clarified through brand new guidelines which were published in 2022. Such data was previously held confidential for 20 years, but this period has now been reduced to two years. However, interpreted data from relinquished areas can be released after one year.

“We want the acreage to circulate, so it’s important for us to provide rapid access to data. We want other companies to take a fresh look and review the opportunities. We hope that the reuse of data from other companies will avoid some duplicated efforts,” says Elin Aabø, acting project manager for Diskos.

The vast majority of this data can be found in Diskos. Read More

Renault Group, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announced on February 6th a new chapter of their Alliance, aiming to reshape their collaborative model to make it more agile, and pave the way for improved competitiveness. This new scheme lays the foundations of a new balanced, fair, and effective governance, while maximizing value creation for each Alliance member. The definitive agreements have been concluded on July 26, 2023, and the transactions contemplated are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the year[1].

In that context and within the framework of its discussions with employee representative bodies, Renault Group has shared today the new way of working for all functions and projects related to the Alliance.

By the end of 2023, the Alliance’s organization will transit from a standardized global model towards a project‑driven cooperation to enable quick and agile decisions that suit regional requirements. It will leverage each partner’s geographical strengths, technical resources, and market expertise to support their respective strategic plans.

These evolutions have been designed to fit with the new trend of the automotive industry: markets are becoming more and more regional due to the differences in regulations, in the path of electrification as well as in connectivity needs.

The Alliance purchasing organization will evolve into distinct organizations focused on a project-by-project approach. The leading company of a given project will have the autonomy to define the specifications and processes to match the product requirements of each company while complying with regulations for the related region. This new set-up will ensure quicker decisions and operational efficiencies along several dimensions: markets, technologies, vehicles and beyond, to support the implementation of the Alliance common projects for Europe, Latin America, and India. French automaker Renault SA has said that its alliance with Japan’s Nissan Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. will terminate the joint procurement program among the three.

The announcement followed an agreement reached in July between Renault and Nissan to review their capital ties.

In a statement released Wednesday, Nissan said that under the new cooperation framework, the alliance will shift from the existing efforts centering on its global strategies to project-by-project collaboration in which each alliance member will use its capabilities to provide more competitive products and services.

In July, Renault and Nissan signed a definitive deal to reduce Renault’s stake in Nissan from 43 percent to 15 percent, the same as Nissan’s stake in Renault. The two aim to complete the necessary procedures by year-end. Read article

evolvAD, the UK’s newest autonomous driving research project backed by Nissan and funded by the UK Government, has officially got underway.

With the aim of enhancing the UK’s autonomous drive capability and technically supporting the supply chain’s readiness for mass adoption, evolvAD will put Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV), through their paces on a variety of urban residential and complex rural roads. These types of roads present their own unique set of challenges for AD technology. For example, in residential areas, drivers often face narrows roads, single lanes with parked vehicles on either side and slow driving speeds. Rural roads can include similar conditions but with higher driving speeds and winding roads with little to no road markings.

Delivered by a consortium of five industry partners including Nissan as technical lead, the research project is jointly funded by government and the consortium partners, the government’s £100m Intelligent Mobility fund is administered by the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) and delivered by the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK.

Over the course of the next 21 months, the evolvAD project will use the combined expertise of the five partners – Nissan, the Connected Places Catapult, Humanising Autonomy, SBD Automotive and TRL – to technically support UK supply chain readiness for future mass deployment of AD technologies in the UK. This comprises several focus areas designed to advance the UK’s autonomous drive capability including Nissan’s work to trial advanced AD technology in built-up residential areas in collaboration with TRL.

Utilising infrastructure such as CCTV in residential areas, the evolvAD CAVs will be able to receive information to improve situational awareness, creating a test study on how vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) technologies can be used to enhance the performance of CAVs. The project will also look to develop new V2I technologies to further support the deployment of autonomous drive vehicles. Furthermore, Nissan will trial the technology on complex rural roads and explore what transport opportunities autonomous mobility can provide to A roads and minor roads that are mostly found within rural and intercity communities. Nissan, the company which lit the spark that electrified the automotive industry, is counting down to an all-electric line-up in Europe.

With many countries debating when to ban sales of internal combustion engines, Nissan is pressing ahead with plans to achieve 100% EV in Europe by 2030, with all new Nissan models from now to be all-electric in Europe.

With capability to design, engineer and build vehicles in the UK, and building on the brand’s core strengths of electrification and crossovers, the switch will also support Nissan’s drive towards carbon neutrality.

“EV is the ultimate mobility solution. More than a million customers have already joined our journey and experienced the fun of a Nissan electric vehicle, and there is no turning back now,” said Makoto Uchida, Nissan President and CEO.

“EVs powered by renewables are key to us achieving carbon neutrality, which is central to our Ambition 2030 vision. Nissan will make the switch to full electric by 2030 in Europe – we believe it is the right thing to do for our business, our customers and for the planet.” The commitment comes as Nissan continues its investment programme in its European Design and R&D teams, both of which are marking historic anniversaries by advancing their cutting-edge work on future vehicles and technology.

On September 25, 2023, on the banks of a canal outside Nissan Design Europe (NDE), Nissan unveiled the ‘Concept 20-23’, a sporty, urban EV concept celebrating the 20th anniversary of the studio opening in Paddington, London.

At the nearby Nissan Technical Centre Europe, where the Nissan R&D team this year mark their 35th anniversary, the UK’s latest real-world autonomous driving study, called evolvAD, is taking place with a focus on residential and rural roads, supported by the UK Government. Read More

After going public, Porsche established individual partnerships in the field of software, for example with Apple and Mobileye. “Forward-looking steps of this nature are an important part of being able to continue to exceed the expectations of our customers with desirable products and unparalleled Porsche experiences in the future as well,” says Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Board Member for Finance and IT. “Autonomy helps us to accelerate even faster and thereby inspire our customers even more. This benefits not only our shareholders, but also our employees. Business success is, after all, the basis for secure and highly attractive jobs in Germany over the long term.”On 29 September 2022, Porsche’s Chairman of the Executive Board Oliver Blume and his deputy Lutz Meschke rang the stock exchange bell on the trading floor of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. It was Europe’s biggest IPO by market capitalization. Just three months later, in December of that year, Porsche AG gained fast entry to the leading German stock index (DAX). “The fast entry was a testament to the great confidence of the capital market in our brand, our product strategy and our business model,” says Lutz Meschke.

Porsche has repaid that trust in recent months: in the first six months of 2023, the sports car manufacturer posted significant gains in Group sales revenue, Group operating profit and deliveries. “The demand for our sports cars is strong worldwide,” says Blume. As we continue to implement our strategy of modern, sporty luxury, we are consistently investing in our product portfolio, innovations and our digital ecosystem. We want to make our products even better, even more unique, and even more appealing than they are today. We are focusing on limited editions and expanding our Sonderwunsch programme, among other priorities. We believe that we are very well positioned for the future – including on the important topic of sustainability.” Read More

Porsche will be presenting a spectacular circuit car for sports car enthusiasts and collectors at Rennsport Reunion 7 to be held at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The 911 GT3 R rennsport with a power output of up to 456 kW (620 PS) is based on the new 911 GT3 R of the current 992 generation. The limited-edition tracktool is the result of a design-oriented approach and benefits technically from the freedoms that go beyond motorsport regulations. The international Porsche meeting will take place on the Californian racing track from 28 September to 1 October. More than 80,000 visitors are expected to attend the four-day event.

One of the special features of this unique collector’s item, which is limited to 77 units, is the distinctively designed body. The Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport combines the powerful appearance of a high-performance competition car with modern design elements. At the same time, it hails back to the sports car manufacturer’s motorsport history without drifting into a retro look. Elementary performance factors of the original GT3 model, such as air resistance and aerodynamic downforce remain largely untouched. As a thoroughbred racing car, the form of the 911 GT3 R rennsport continues to follow function – but it does that in an extremely emotional and attractive way. Read More

Sixty years ago, in September 1963, Carlo Abarth unveiled the Fiat-Abarth 595 to the world. Based on the Fiat 500 D, a model that had been increasingly more successful since 1961, the new Fiat-Abarth 595 took its name from its displacement, which had been increased thanks to work on its cylinders and pistons and their completely new materials.

It differed from the Fiat 500 D on the outside with its eye-catching 850TC-type perforated front grille, the shiny metal “Fiat Abarth 595” lettering on the rear and hood, and the proud “World Champion” inscription on the right side, which referred to the many records held by the creations of the Officine di Corso Marche. The model’s racing spirit was further emphasized by the oversized aluminum oil pan that protruded under the rear fascia and, above all, the “Record Monza”-type dual-exit sports muffler. The result was a small but particularly aggressive and even noisy car that was loaded with 30% more power than its original version, 27hp at 5,000 rpm and a peak speed of 120 km. Read More
