As the world converges at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the need for scalable climate solutions is more pressing than ever. A major initiative gaining attention this year is the Global1000 CDR Challenge, led by ClimeFi in partnership with XPRIZE. This ambitious challenge is focused on mobilizing the world’s largest corporations to adopt CDR purchasing, which alongside with reduction efforts is a critical piece for meeting global climate targets.
At Davos, ClimeFi will host a high-level roundtable at GoalsHouse on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 8:00 AM, where the next stage of the Global1000 CDR Challenge will be officially announced — driving concrete actions to scale carbon removal solutions.
The goal of the Global1000 CDR Challenge is to harness the influence and resources of major companies to drive the widespread adoption of carbon removal. ClimeFi and XPRIZE are making the case that by fostering collaboration across sectors, these technologies can be scaled rapidly, helping meet the world’s net-zero ambitions. Companies like Microsoft, Google, BCG, and Adyen already actively purchase carbon removal.
As the climate crisis intensifies, initiatives like the Global1000 CDR Challenge are vital to ensuring that carbon removal is a key part of the global strategy for achieving net-zero emissions scales, alongside the very important carbon reduction efforts. With the next stage of the challenge set to unfold at WEF 2025, many eyes will be on the discussions in Davos, where cross-sector partnerships can shape the future of climate action. Davos attendees are invited to join the event and participate in the conversation about accelerating carbon removal solutions at scale.
