Buy A Hyundai IONIQ 5, Get A Free Home Charging Station – CleanTechnica

One of the biggest concerns people looking to go electric for the first time have is how and where to charge. Many truly don’t realize how easy home charging is. However, on the flip side, many decide they need a home charger, but don’t think about that extra cost ahead of time. (I just use a normal 120V electricity outlet and think that’s fine, but many people prefer a faster home charger.) Hyundai is looking to help out its EV buyers by giving them a charging bonus — and they get to choose which bonus.

Hyundai was offering buyers of the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N a free home charging station. Now, it’s offering that to all IONIQ 5 buyers. However, they can choose — they can either get a free ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger, or they can get a $400 charging credit at public ChargePoint stations. Naturally, unless you expect to rely on a healthy diet of public charging, I assume you’re more likely to choose the free home charger.

If the EV buyer is not sure which option they prefer right off the bat, they have 60 days to choose between the home charger or the public EV charging credit. Also, if you don’t charge much in public, beware — the public charging credit only lasts for two years.

“The home charger is the same unit Hyundai began offering to other EV customers in 2023. Both the charger and installation services are once again provided through the automaker’s Hyundai Home service, which aggregates home-charging possibilities for EV owners, as well as solar and energy storage options, and provides bids for installation,” Green Car Reports writes.

Considering public charging, also note that the IONIQ 5 now has access to Tesla Superchargers, and Superchargers are considerably more reliable and often faster than ChargePoint stations. Personally, despite finding that 120V charging is adequate, I’d choose the free home charger over the public charging credits — but then again, I don’t really have any paid ChargePoint chargers in my area.
