Alkane Resources has found new prospects in its latest regional exploration activities at the Tomingley gold operation in central New South Wales.
The exploration aims to extend the mine life of Tomingley by adding to its resource inventory.
Recent drilling has focused on the El Paso prospect and areas south of the San Antonio deposit, which has a 406,000-ounce gold resource.
New andesite targets have been identified east and south of San Antonio, and significant mineralisation associated with a dacite unit was discovered at El Paso.
Key results from drilling include 12m grading 1.50 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 297m (EPD013) and 3m grading 1.49g/t gold from 130m (EPP051).
Exploration at the Plains prospect has confirmed the continuity of gold-bearing structures, with notable results such as 9m grading 0.76g/t gold from 165m (RWRC481) and 6m grading 1.31g/t gold from 312m (RWRC482).
The company aims to follow up these findings with further work in the near future.
Regional aircore drilling in the eastern portion of the Mingelo Volcanics has uncovered new gold zones, with the most significant being approximately 1km southeast of the El Paso prospect.
This zone returned results including 3m grading 0.70g/t gold from 78m (EPAC159).
Alkane has also completed an airborne gradiometry survey over the northern part of the Tomingley gold operation, identifying new structures and the possibility of a new volcanic belt buried to the east of Peak Hill.
“We continue to explore at Tomingley both within our approved mining areas and regionally,” Alkane managing director Nic Earner said.
“With current plans already extending to 2032, we are seeking to add further mine life, scale, and grade to Tomingley.”
“It is pleasing to see the various exploration targets around Tomingley yielding results and we look forward to continuing to add to our resource base.”
