SafeGauge, an Australian safety solutions company, is on a mission to eliminate live work in heavy machinery testing. With a commitment to redefining safety standards, SafeGauge aims to achieve this goal through its innovative products and solutions.
SafeGauge is committed to reshaping safety practices in the mining sector. Despite being a relatively young company, SafeGauge has quickly become a key player, driven by its dedication to innovation and safety.
“Our goal is to eliminate live work – we are taking people out of the line of fire with our products,” SafeGauge general manager Greg Sweeney said.
The company’s focus on safety is evident in its range of groundbreaking products designed to transform the way heavy machinery testing is conducted.
In 2020, SafeGauge introduced the first product in the SafeTest range – the SafeTest PT (Pressure Transducer) series.
This innovation enables technicians to monitor hydraulic and pneumatic system pressure safely and efficiently. Following this success, the company expanded its product line with the SafeTest DI (Dial Indicator) series in 2021 and the SafeTest TM (Tachometer) series in 2022, allowing remote measurement of clearances, tolerances, and wireless RPM measurement, respectively.
SafeGauge’s commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. The company has received numerous accolades, including the New South Wales Small Business of the Year category at the 2022 NSW Minerals Council Industry and Suppliers Awards.
Further recognition came through prestigious awards like the 2022 Good Design Awards (GOLD), the 2022 HMA Award for Excellence in Product Design, and the APAC Insider Award for Safety Tech Innovation of the Year.
SafeGauge’s dedication extends beyond awards; it is reflected in the company’s ISO 9001 certification and its partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and mine sites to eliminate live work.
Sweeney emphasised the transformative impact of SafeGauge’s technology.
“Bluetooth allows the sensors to transmit and record the data that’s been measured (by the pressure transducers, dial indicators, or tachometers) as part of the testing process,” he said. “That’s the real benefit.
“Simply put, it removes technicians from the machine proximity while undergoing routine maintenance.”
Looking ahead in 2024, SafeGauge plans to enhance its products, including the introduction of a laser displacement device for measuring slew wear. The company’s vision goes beyond mining, with plans to expand into industries like construction, agriculture, and defence.
“Our main goal is to be seen as the quality and innovation leader, and to deliver continuous value to customers who use our products,” Sweeney said.
SafeGauge envisions a future where live work is eliminated, setting new safety standards not only in Australia but globally.
With a commitment to growth and innovation, SafeGauge is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of safety in heavy machinery testing.
