The donation includes construction of a kitchen, classroom and bathroom plus a solar system once the construction is solar ready.
MANSFIELD, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Summit Energy, one of the Northeast region’s premier solar installers, celebrated its company anniversary by formally announcing the donation of a kitchen, classroom, bathroom and solar system to the Montessori Orphanage and School in Tanzania, Africa. The solar system will be installed once the construction is solar ready. Every year on or around September 19th, the day the company was founded in 2016, Summit Energy celebrates Summit Day by exhibiting acts of kindness in the community both domestically and internationally.
The Montessori orphanage and school in Tanzania serves over 300 children with very minimal resources. This organization provides housing, food, and schooling to orphaned children in the area; in which there are an estimated 36,000 orphans in Zanzibar alone and over 1.6M in Tanzania. Teachers at the orphanage are compensated just $300USD per year. This year Summit Energy’s Cofounder and Chief Empower Officer Eric Israelsen and James Truax Chief Revenue Officer along with several family members traveled to the Tanzania orphanage volunteering their services to help with the construction.
“We are keenly aware that as a participant in the renewable energy space, we share a responsibility with other similar-minded organizations, to elevate humanity and make the world a better place. We are committed to becoming all that we can be as a company and as individuals,” said Eric Israelsen, Cofounder, Chief Empower Officer of Summit Energy. “Impact projects, like the Montessori orphanage, provide opportunities for us to step out of our regular day-to-day activities and come together as a team to give back, serve, volunteer, and make a positive impact in different and new ways while being reminded of the good we do as a team every day.”
“We like to think of Summit Energy as a people company that happens to sell solar. Our Mission to Empower People and Elevate Tomorrow is more than a catch phrase. It means we are here to help each other and better the world we live in,” said Dallin Maw, Cofounder and Chief Elevate Officer of Summit Energy. “Summit Day is a very special occasion for Summit Energy. We celebrate this day every year by announcing our most important philanthropic initiatives of the year to mirror our mission of helping people and making the world a better place. We couldn’t be more pleased with our support of the Montessori Orphanage and School which does so much to help so many children with so little.”
At the same time, Summit management selects a famous mountain to Summit each year which symbolizes a key founding principle of the company to reach the topmost level attainable in business and in the way it treats people. This year the mountain selected was Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa, making it one of the seven summits. This year Summit Energy’s Cofounder and Chief Empower Officer Eric Israelsen and James Truax Chief Revenue Officer along with several family members summited the mountain in honor of the Company’s anniversary.
