Monadelphous secures mining contracts worth $107m

Engineering company Monadelphous has been awarded A$170m ($107.4m) worth of contracts for construction and maintenance, and extensions, in the resources and energy sectors.

Lynas Rare Earths has selected Monadelphous for stage one of the Mt Weld Expansion Project, located near Laverton in the Goldfields region of Western Australia (WA).

Under the contract, Monadelphous will be responsible for structural, mechanical and piping works associated with the new concentration facility.

Claimed to feature one of the world’s highest-grade rare earth deposits, Mt Weld hosts the undeveloped Duncan (rare earths); Crown (niobium, tantalum, titanium, rare earths, and zirconium); and Swan (phosphate) deposits.

Furthermore, Monadelphous has secured a contract to provide upgrades at Fortescue’s Anderson Point iron ore stockyard in Port Hedland, WA.

Monadelphous also secured a services contract to continue providing sustaining capital projects and maintenance support at Santos’ production and support facilities in the Southern Highlands region of Papua New Guinea.

This three-year contract has three one-year extension options.

A master services agreement has also been extended by BHP to Monadelphous to provide general maintenance services for its iron ore operations in Pilbara, WA.

Valid through to 30 June 2025, the contract has an additional one-year extension option.

Monadelphous has also been awarded a one-year extension contract for BHP’s Nickel West operations in WA.

Under the contract, Monadelphous will provide mechanical and electrical maintenance, shutdown and project services for the BHP’s Nickel West operations.

Monadelphous also secured a one-year extension to its sustaining capital works master services agreement with Rio Tinto.

This involves providing multidisciplinary project services across Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations in Pilbara.
