Gold Road Resources has revealed the amount of gold it expects to produce from its Gruyere mine for the March 2025 quarter.
Situated in Western Australia’s north-eastern Goldfields, Gruyere is a 50–50 joint venture (JV) shared between Gold Road and Gold Fields.
The mine has produced over 1.5 million ounces (oz) of gold since its first production in June 2019, with 287,270oz produced in 2024 alone.
Now, Gruyere is expected to produce between 70,000–73,000oz during the March 2025 quarter.
“Production is anticipated to be below plan due to maintenance on the primary crusher and the failure of two conveyor belts,” Gold Road said.
“The Gruyere JV has investigated the cause of these issues and has developed recovery plans.
“Mining continues to ramp up as planned and is currently at an annualised rate of approximately 72Mtpa (million tonnes per annum), with further improvement anticipated.”
Gruyere is guided to produce 325,000–355,000oz in 2025 at an attributable all-in sustaining cost of $2400–2600 per oz, following a record-breaking December 2024 quarter.
The mine’s three-year gold production outlook stands at 335,000–375,000oz, with the amount expected to be delivered by higher mill head grades and improving plant throughput rates. Gruyere is expected to deliver two million ounces in 2026.
“Over the past three years, production capability at Gruyere has improved as a result of increased plant throughput, supported by the installation of a third pebble crushing circuit in late 2023, with further plant improvements planned in 2025,” Gold Road said in January.
“Plant throughput in 2025 targets approximately 9.5Mt (million tonnes), with an extended shutdown currently scheduled for the second half of 2025 to upgrade conveyors in the pebble crushing circuit, together with other upgrades in the grinding circuit.”
