The Illinois Solar Education Association (ISEA) is a great organization. Since its inception in 1975, it has helped countless Illinoisans go solar, providing a directory of proven professionals in the solar energy and storage industries. More importantly, it’s helped create a stable set of regulations and incentives at the state level and kept the business community informed of the changes in policy that might affect them. ISEA does public education webinars and consumer protection, as well.
And right now, you can support them on Giving Tuesday AND have a chance to win a Rivian R1T or R1S (your choice)!
Get your tickets now for this Rivian raffle. For those who aren’t 100% familiar yet, Rivian’s truck and SUV are two of the most well-engineered vehicles on the planet. Rivian’s current lineup includes a full sized SUV (the R1S, pictured above) and a full sized pickup, the R1T (pictured below).
The R1T has up to 390 miles of range, goes 0–60 mph in as little as 3 seconds, seats 5 comfortably, tows up to 11,000 pounds, and was Motor Trend‘s Truck of the Year in 2022. In 2023, JD Power awarded it the most satisfying ownership experience among premium BEVs.
The R1S, built on the same chassis, seats 7 comfortably, tows up to 7700 pounds, has an astounding 104 cubic feet of storage capacity, was US News & World Report‘s #1 ranked luxury electric SUV, and earned a 2023 Top Safety Pick award from IIHS.

According to ISEA, a maximum of 3,000 raffle tickets will be sold for this electric vehicle raffle, at a price of $100 per ticket, or at the discounted rate of four for $300. The winner can decide which vehicle they want, or take a cash settlement if they prefer. The drawing for the 2024/25 ISEA Rivian Raffle will be held on Thursday, May 8th, 2025 in the Village of Palatine, IL, and/or broadcast on Facebook Live and other social media channels as available.
All proceeds directly benefit ISEA’s mission of solar education and advocacy, which is especially important with the passage of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), and the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), both of which are accelerating Illinois’ transition to clean energy.
Last year’s winner said, “I knew the funds would go to a good cause advancing solar adoption, so I entered the raffle hoping to win or at least do a little good!” Also, in case you hadn’t seen before, the winner of ISEA’s first raffle was a CleanTechnica reader!
You can follow ISEA at @ILSolarEnergy on Facebook or X.
More details
I will acknowledge that I own Rivian stock! I believe in the company, because it’s got a great product (not a good product — a great product), has shown growth in segments currently not very tapped in the EV market, is launching a midsized SUV (the R2) soon, and has had a steady leader for 15 years now. Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe seems like a genuinely good dude. He founded the company in 2009 and still sits at its helm guiding the ship with a steady hand, which says a lot about the company, in my opinion.
“ISEA is a non-profit organization that promotes the widespread application of solar and other forms of renewable energy through our mission of education. ISEA is the state resource for renewable energy related policy developments, educational classes, events, and access to local renewable energy businesses.” Find out more here: www.illinoissolar.org.
