It’s shocking that 70 people would vote for Donald Trump for president of the United States a second time around, let alone 70 million. Unfortunately, we are completely awash with misinformation and information echo chambers these days. We are not living in a shared reality in the United States — we are actually living in very different realities from our own neighbors in many cases. I continue to believe that most people still aren’t aware of some of the key reasons Donald Trump should not be put in control of the country again. I have to believe that, because the alternative is … unbelievable.
Some of these matters concern cleantech and the climate. But to make the list somewhat comprehensive, I am going into other matters as well, broader overarching matters of society.
1. From Trump’s previous administration, 40 out of his 44 Cabinet members have turned against him. His own former vice president can’t endorse him, after he was bullied into doing illegal things to try to stop the lawful, democratic transfer of power from one president to another. His former Chief of Staff (basically, the president’s real #2) has said that he’s fascist to his core and praised Hitler.
Mark Cuban: On one hand you have Donald Trump where 40 out of 44 members of his cabinet turned against him. I’ve never seen that happen to anybody in any circumstances. Ever. I’ve never seen a company like this ever… pic.twitter.com/DqYEtogmeP

Side note: A hat Elon Musk wore at a Trump event in New York City yesterday used Fraktur font that was popular in Nazi Germany.
Elon posted his MAGA hat which uses the Fraktur font, popular in nazi Germany. He wore this at a rally meant to evoke the 1939 nazi rally at Madison Square Garden.

2. He’s been convicted of 34 felonies and is out on bail waiting for sentencing. He’s also awaiting trial on several other cases on a variety of criminal and civil matters, including ones where people involved to a seemingly much lesser degree have already been convicted, sentenced, and are in prison or have served prison time.

3. Donald Trump, with the support of Republicans controlling the House and Senate for two years, did nothing to help the American people at large. He tried to kill the Affordable Care Act, which many of his supporters and other Americans benefit from, and he cut taxes on the super rich and corporations, skyrocketing national debt.
In contrast, the Biden–Harris administration and Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These have stimulated enormous investments in US manufacturing, US infrastructure, and clean technologies that will dominate the global economy more and more. These have created countless jobs and have boosted the US economy. In the meantime, the Biden–Harris administration has brought down inflation faster than any other major economy.
BREAKING: Inflation drops to lowest levels in 3 years, back down to 2.4%
US inflation has historically been around 2-3% per year
US recovered faster from inflation than any other top economy
So if you still see prices climbing out of control, that’s PRICE GOUGING by retailers

4. Trump’s economic plan would be much worse for the economy. Some very rich people might benefit (to a limited degree) from further tax cuts on the rich, but most would not and the economy as a whole would fare better, as 23 Nobel Prize–winning economists recently wrote.
RETWEET this. Every day. Until Election Day.
Anyone anywhere in America who tells you Donald Trump will be better for the economy needs this tweeted at them IMMEDIATELY. pic.twitter.com/BIICYq4upX

5. Donald Trump is by various metrics simply a “bad” person — someone who cheats on his wives (repeatedly, while pregnant, etc.), someone who is constantly bullying and terrorizing others, someone who routinely lies (obsessively, it seems), someone who routinely cheats (has been convicted of fraud with regard to the Trump Foundation, which was forced to dissolve as a result, Trump University, which was forced to close as a result, and other matters), someone who commits sexual assault, and the list goes on. This is not a good example for our children or other adults.
Donald Trump is everything we were ever taught was wrong.
This feels like more than an election.
It’s a referendum on whether being good or decent even matters any more.

Trump and Vance have explicitly attacked:
—Haitian Americans
—Latino Americans
—Mexican Americans
—African Americans
—Puerto Rican Americans
—Asian Americans
—Indian Americans
—Muslim Americans
—Jewish Americans
—Female Americans
—LGBTQ Americans
—Americans without children— Andrew—Author of America Rises On Substack (@AmoneyResists) October 28, 2024
6. Donald Trump still won’t admit that he lost the last election, tried to overthrow the government rather than pass on power, and has been seeding widespread distrust in the election process and pillars of our democracy while running for president again. His own (new) candidate for vice president wouldn’t admit in a national vice presidential debate that Trump lost the last election. This is was dictators and wannabe dictators in banana republics do. It is a straight, pure attack on democracy.
GOP Senator Mitt Romney: “70% of Republicans still say that Donald Trump won…Are we going to abandon truth to that degree? It’s absolutely absurd…Actually, most of the evidence I’ve seen so far has been Republicans trying to corrupt the election.” pic.twitter.com/2TsMlaWfNr

Here’s trump admitting to Joe Rogan that he’s paying for fake polls to show that he’s ahead. Also admitting to an incredibly low sample rate in these bogus polls. Everything about trump is staged and fake except the criminality, the treason, and the hate. pic.twitter.com/B8oIdpugd0

7. Donald Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Climate Accords (aka Paris Agreement). The only countries to have not ratified the Paris Agreement are Iran, Libya, and Yemen. He also tried to kill California’s right to set its own (higher) fuel economy standards and he weakened US fuel economy standards. He denied requests from Tesla and GM to reinstate the EV tax credit for EV leaders, and did nothing to incentivize further EV sales or EV infrastructure development. Former fossil fuel lobbyists and executives were put in charge of US agencies like the Department of Energy, Department of Interior, and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), cutting regulations put in place previously to protect our air, water, and climate.
There’s a lot more to include here, like siding with our foreign adversaries instead of our own intelligence experts, making bad deals with the Taliban on 9/11 at Camp David, and further disrupting the Middle East. There’s also how Trump responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, how he withheld federal aid after extreme natural disasters from states that did not vote for him, and the fact that his administration purposefully separated kids from their parents at the border with no way to track them and reunite them — a cruel, vicious way to discourage immigration and seed massive problems for individual humans and future generations. There are actually so many other issues that could be brought up. But I think the above is enough, and I’m going to leave it at that.
