Octopus Energy and Rivian recently announced a joint program for Rivian owners in Texas that allows them to sign up for Octopus 100% clean electricity to charge their electric vehicles at home. Rivian owners in Texas do not need to get their own home solar power systems to charge their electric vehicles. Instead, they can just select the Octopus Energy program and set that up to work with their Rivian. 

There are homeowners who would like to have home solar power and an electric vehicle, perhaps even combining both technologies with a home battery system. However, at the moment, purchasing and installing them to work with an EV is not financially in reach for all who want to do so. That’s where Octopus Energy comes in, at least in this case, for Texans who want clean, renewable electricity but are not in the market to get their own solar and/or home wind turbine systems.

What are the benefits for Texas Rivian owners who sign up for Octopus Energy?

Octopus Energy is offering an exclusive deal for Texan Rivian customers that will mean cheaper and cleaner energy for people’s homes and vehicles. The new energy rate plan gives customers an overnight off-peak rate discounted up to 50%. 

Typically, electricity is more expensive during periods of high demand, such as weekday evenings when people are cooking dinner and using energy-intensive appliances. It means electricity is cheaper during periods of low demand. Rivian customers can take advantage of this to get cheaper energy to charge their EVs, while helping to ease strain on the grid.
